The End Of The Year Evaluation Series: Santa Claus: Who’s Image Are We Really Looking At? Part 1

While we enjoy this Christmas Holiday with our family and friends, it’s important that we are using the proper historical context. When we look at the modern-day Santa Claus image that America has shown us since the turn of the century, isn’t Saint Nicholas at all.

The image we see today is actually Odin, the pagan god of the Goths. The idea to use Odin’s image was constructed by the descendants of Gothic and Slavic conquerors of Rome and Christianity.

So when your children bring up Santa Clause, use that as an opportunity to give them a quick history lesson, doing so will give them more of a balanced perspective of the world we live in.
