Weekend Activity Tip #27: A Trip To The Flea Market

Activity: Trip to the Flea Market.

Location: Flea Market in your city.

Cost: Based on your budget.

Age: All ages.

For most people, the flea market isn’t the ideal place to shop. I definitely agree with that sentiment; it’s without a doubt, an acquired taste. However, the entrepreneurial spirit that is evident when visiting the flea market can be an inspiration for your children, and even for yourself.

From an adolescent age, most of us are socialized to achieve financial stability the same way: Go to college, graduate, obtain a lucrative job. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with this formula but if we look at the wealth gap in America, melanated people are at the bottom of the totem pole.

With that being said, not only should a college education be held in high regard by members of our community but business owners should as well. So, when we come across a situation or an environment that can be used as inspiration, take that as an opportunity to create a teachable moment for your family and loved ones.
