Rapper and entrepreneur T.I is lending a much-needed hand to Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms who plans to repurpose the Atlanta City Detention Center. The Goal is to make the detention center a “multi-faceted use center for wellness and healing, skills building, economic mobility, and crime prevention.”
In May, bottoms signed legislation to close the jail due to increased operating cost and having fewer inmates there. T.I will be apart of a 25 man task force that will work on the jail to make the new vision come to life.
“This Task Force reflects strong local leadership, willing to help us progress towards a safer, and just city,” said Bottoms in a press release. “It is my hope this building will serve as an epicenter for resources, education, and training for the community. With the help of these members, I am optimistic that what is reimagined will be the future of One Atlanta.”
