Jay-Z and Will Smith are teaming up to create a mini-series based on the Emmett till situation that will be aired on ABC. The mini-series which is tentatively titled “women of the movement” will tell the story from the perspective of Emmett till’s mother, Mami Till.
Jay-Z will produce the eight-episode series under his Roc Nation umbrella with Tyran “Ty-Ty” Smith. Meanwhile, Will Smith and Lassiter will produce it through there company Overbrook entertainment.
The miniseries will also be based on the Devery S. Anderson book “Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.”
It’s also been reported that a second season of “Women of the movement” will feature civil rights icon rosa parks.
A release date for the project has not been released yet.
