R-Kelly who is facing several federal and state charges of different sex crimes failed to appear for a pretrial hearing Thursday becuase authorities say he “refused transport” from a metropolitan correctional facility in downtown Chicago, according to NBC News.

Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney Jennifer Gonzalez told Judge Lawrence Flood of the news during the hearing.

The main reason for the hearing was to bring the judge up to speed on the new charges or information concerning bail. Kelly’s next court date is Sept. 17

Kelly lawyer Steve Greenberg wouldn’t provide any details about why his client couldn’t make it to court so the pretrial went on without him.

In February, Kelly was charged with 10 counts of sexual abuse after the documentary “Surviving R-Kelly” aired, which showed some of his alleged victims talking about the abuse they suffered.
